WT Woodson Chorus

May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may the God that loves us all hold you in the palm of his hand. Amen.

LIST OF DOB AUDITION SONGS - last update 09/24/09

HOW THE “REQUEST-A-DOB-AUDITION-SONG” PROCESS WORKS:
Must Be Requested by October 9th

After reviewing the song list and choosing a song to audition with, e-mail Mrs. Byrne or message her on Facebook as Mommae Byrne.

Be sure to provide the following info in your request:

Your name_______________________________________

Class period you’re in Chorus____________________

Song title________________________________________

Show title________________________________________
(some shows have songs with same title)

Note: Many songs from jukebox-musical artists and solo albums by Broadway stars may be available, but aren't on this list.  (Examples: ABBA songs from Mamma Mia, Kristin Chenoweth hits.) If there's something you must sing, but don't see, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Mrs. Byrne will deliver your burned CD to Mr. Ehrlich who will distribute them as he receives them. Do not bug him! Be sure to plan ahead and allow for turnaround time.  If you need something faster, contact Mrs. Byrne about picking up your CD from her front porch.

ONCE YOU GET YOUR CD:
It will be up to you to learn your song (in many cases, a “demo” track will be provided) and figure out how to limit your audition to 1.5 minutes.  Lack of preparedness or fumbling around with cueing things up sets a bad tone for the audition.  It may be worth your while to edit your track down and transfer it to a new CD, which you then take to the audition.

If the song really doesn't work for you, it is up to you to quickly contact Mrs. Byrne about trying something else.

If you have iTunes, here’s an easy way to cut down the track time:
  • Import song into iTunes.
  • Determine where you want the “sound bite” to begin and end. Note these time marks using the “elapsed time” bar as song plays.
  • Highlight the song in your iTunes playlist.
  • “Get info” using the menus or command keys (“apple-I” on a Mac)
  • Choose “Options” tab.
  • Fill in preferred start and end times in proper fields, using minutes and seconds.
  • Hit “OK.” With track still highlighted, choose “Convert selection to AIFF”  (or whatever your preferences are setup for - MP3, wav, etc.) under “Advanced” menu in iTunes bar.
  • You should hear a little chime when it’s done. Now find condensed track in iTunes library, and you can burn it to a new CD.
  • If you find you’ve messed up, you can always alter the original track again, simply by changing the start and end times, accordion-like. Or, if all goes wrong, re-import the track and start over.  If you really have trouble, feel free to contact Mrs. Byrne.
HAVE FUN!!!
